Only a week of two after our latest updated on the Canadian Nippon cycling team and here we are again as the transition period at Canadian Nippon has really kicked off in quick order.
Joining the team to start season 60 are the following young talented riders:
Algernon Monroe - 217 max potential leadout sprinter with a very nice health side of cobble. The question is how will the training of this rider progress with 296 max Cobble ability clearly making Monroe one of the countries top cobble riders but with more sprint ability and currently on a sprint team means he will more likely fit the role of an leadout sprinter then a weak cobble captain.
When asked about the young twenty three year old rider, the team manager Robert Bouchard stated;" We always look at the best single ability of each and every rider first and foremost. In the case of Monroe this is clearly his ability to sprint. We will look to train his sprinting ability first then we will determine if we will go down the road if cobble afterwards. The plan at the moment is to have Monroe part of a younger sprint team that will slowly replace our aging main sprint team. This includes some of the other riders we have also signed at the start of the season."
Dominik Aelemans- Belgium rider joins the team after being dropped by his former team IceCats simply seemed to be running out of time and cash to train a sprinter with very similar compatibles to Irving Watts. At a max 217 sprinter that could lead a sprint team he was simple too good to simply pass on when he showed up on the Free Hire transfer list.
"He is going to be rushed trained but he should lead our young team in the short term and maybe even join the big team from time to time." commented the manager when asked about the Belgium riders potential. "He will either be a great captain or simple another leadout rider part of the train. We are still very much looking for a stronger Sprint Captain but this will cover off some of the load from Watts as we train the riders of the younger team. Age is a factor as we would have liked to have an all U23 team; but we are missing that true Captain at the moment. We have strong riders but simple miss some high end quality."
Eli Dauphin - The young Canadian was scouted last year and after tough negotiations seen the Canadian rider join the team on day one. He is another young sprinter with good sprint and good technique but might not completely translate into winning stages and races even with a max potential of 227.
"He has great overall potential and should make a good overall leadout for the sprint team. He should also get chance to lead the sprint team but will most likely need a very strong leadout train if he is going to have any true chance at race wins. But he should be good for scoring results on the regular early in his career and hopefully this carries over once he joins the main team." suggested the team coach Health coach Elroy Rotton; when asked about the team goals for Dauphin.
Emery Finnigan - This Canadian rider signed within the last twenty-four hours and at the time not a lot was known of the twenty-three year old. That being said we quickly learned that he is going to be a solid addition to the sprint team as he should be able to take the role of leadout away from Guillot allowing the French rider more time to focus on Prologues, tours and Time trials races; which are more his overall strengths. Finnigan is reported to be an max potential around 217 sprinter but will never lead the sprint team.
"This was a quick signing yesterday when we seen him on the market and came available. He has a good overall potential and will give us more then a few options in the leadout train as we have a few riders that will be able to replace Guillot; hopefully in the near future." commented the teams recovery doctor Emmett Tennant when asked about riders that might be able to give Guillot more recovery time between races. "We also have Testut, Pavicic and a rider on the another team that we are all considering as options to add to the leadout train to allow Guillot more recovery time." added the team doctor."
When pushed he about the rider on the other team we were quickly met with a look of I didn`t say that did I from the doctor.
Geo Tranberg- Young Danish rider is a clear cut leadout sprint signed with the eye towards the future. He should be a base of the train in the future and maybe even the near future depending on the training. Once again he is an 217 max potential rider and with very strong sprinting potential.
"This was another quick signing when we found him on the free hire list with Dominik Aelemans and we quickly decided to sign both. Age was deciding factor in sign the twenty-one year Danish rider and should make the base of your team and our U23 team. We are excited about his overall potential to lead the leadout train." answered team manager Robert Bouchard when again asked about the new members to the Canadian Nippon team.
When asked about the rumor and the comment of teams doctor Emmett Tennant, the manager answered;" Uh, He let that slip did he!! LOL!! We have inquired about three potential riders that we are looking at that could strength our leadout train. All three are Canadian riders and we have only one real potential transfer offer at the moment that we are considering but I am currently waiting on some more training with some of our riders before I decide completely if I should pull the trigger on the private deal or not. Remember even if we agree to a private deal we may still not actually get the rider for the offered price should another team interrupt and want the rider more. So it is a risky move and one we will only consider if it makes sense for the team."
At this time we do not know who these three riders might be and when pressed to name the riders the manager was more then tight lipped as he turned on his heels and walked away.
Jacky Berton- Another rider joining the team at the start of the season but in a completely different fashion since the team actually collects this rider off the transfer market after coming to agreement to sign the rider for a reported 132K from Team Majones. The maxed Time trial rider joins the team on the back of the World Championship TT race so isn`t a stranger to the Time trail team that he now joins.
"He is a very good rider and at his age should add some more depth to our TT team. This has allowed us to look at the TT a bit differently and should add in freeing up some training time for other riders. A bit sad that we push aside another Canadian team when bidding for this rider but the price far out weighed our needs so we had no choice but to continue bidding. We were at the time also looking at another old and more expensive option but we came to this agreement before we had to make an offer in the other transfer." added the team manger when asked about the transfer agreement.
That is six riders joining the team since the start of the new season. Clearly the Winds of Change have come blowing through in the early days of season sixty and now the question remains How much strong do these new riders make the Canadian Nippon team in the present and the future or will these be ill timed moves requiring a lot more investment then reward? Oh, I didn`t notice that the post got cut off at the end but not a big deal since most of the information is actually in the post. Missing a line or two maybe.
I might give up on a few of them sooner then later as they aren`t Canadian riders and if I find better Canadian then I will train them first!!
Great post - look forward to seeing where all these riders go! Looks like the post got cut off at the end?
